Telomere health and longevity
Puraz T5 is a nutritional supplement that supports
health and longevity. It supports telomerase production,
an enzyme that helps maintain telomere length
(shortened telomeres are associated with aging).
It also protects against oxidative stress, a known
accelerator of telomere shortening.

Introducing Puraz T5
Telomerase, often referred to in popular science as
'the fountain of youth', is the key enzyme that repairs
telomeres by maintaining telomere length. Telomeres
are protective tips on the ends of our chromosomes that
get shorter each time our cells divide. As our cells have
a very limited lifespan, cell division is the body's way of
renewing itself and an essential element to our health
However, as we age, and because of repeated cell division, our telomeres get shorter and shorter. When they get too short, the cells can no longer divide and become senescent or die. Longer telomeres have been linked to health, youth and longevity, shorter telomeres to many age-related illness.
Research shows that supporting healthy telomerase production in the body may help slow telomere shortening.
Puraz T5 contains key ingredients that support our body's own natural telomerase enzyme production. It also contains added antioxidants that are essential for protecting against oxidative stress.
Puraz T5 has been specifically formulated to:
- Support telomerase production, helping maintain telomere length.
- Protect against oxidative stress, a known accelerator of telomere shortening.
- Support your health and longevity by supporting telomere maintenance.
Astragalus Extract (10% Astragaloside IV)
Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) is a herb that has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years. Astragaloside IV is a highly purified and potent extract derived from astralagus root. In recent times, research has shown that astragaloside IV can support production of the telomerase enzyme, and in turn support the maintenance of telomere length.
Astragaloside IV is present in astragalus in minute quantities and it is highly complex and costly to extract. Due to this expense, many extracts on the market do not contain detectable amounts of astragaloside IV and are thus ineffective. The extract used in Puraz T5 has been produced using a complex and patented process to ensure it contains an active amount of astragaloside IV.
Baicalin is a flavone extracted from the medicinal herb Scutellaria baicalensis. It has a variety of health-supporting properties, and has been used for centuries in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It contains antioxidants and has relaxing and calming effects.
Studies have shown that baicalin can help to support and protect skin cells from telomere damage that is caused by the sun. In turn, this nutritional support can provide valuable protection for the aging of fibroblasts and restoring their youthful strength.
We are exposed to oxidative stress in our everyday lives through things like exposure to pollution, sunlight, cigarette smoking, poor dietary habits, or emotional stress. Oxidative stress is a major cause of disease and known to accelerate aging, and in particular telomere shortening.
Glutathione functions as the body's master antioxidant. It is synthesised by every human cell, mopping up the DNA-damaging free radicals and peroxides that result from daily exposure to environmental toxins that occur as a by-product of oxidative stress. Glutathione also helps preserve the activity of other antioxidants, including vitamins C and E. Research has shown that the rate of glutathione production and the levels of active glutathione in the cell decrease under conditions of oxidative stress. Taking glutathione as a supplement has been shown to support healthy glutathione levels in the body.
Puraz T5 contains a proprietary formulation of antioxidant extracts from four New Zealand super fruits - grapes, boysenberries, blackcurrants and kiwifruit, with added vitamin C. This powerful antioxidant complex provides support for protection against oxidative stress and ultimately healthy telomere maintenance.
Selenium is a trace mineral of particular importance to health conscious people, particularly New Zealanders, as both soil levels, dietary intakes and measured selenium status is lower than in most other countries. Not only that, but selenium levels decline as we age. Selenium is a powerful antioxidant, and is an important component of several detoxification enzymes, including glutathione peroxidase. Animal and cell studies have shown that higher selenium levels supported increased production and activity of telomerase and significantly increased telomere levels.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are telomeres?
Telomeres are buffers, protective pieces of DNA material at the ends of each and every chromosome in every cell in the body. Telomeres perform a similar role to the plastic tip at the end of a shoelace. Like these plastic tips that keep shoelaces from becoming damaged or frayed, telomeres protect our chromosomes from the critical shortening and damage that may ultimately lead to cellular death and loss of health. Our telomeres are essentially a bio-marker of our age, or "genetic time clock" getting shorter and shorter throughout our lifetime, until they reach a point where our cells cannot divide any further, and we die of old age.
How are telomeres related to health and longevity?
Studies have shown links between shorter telomere length and various types of cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, cognitive function, dementia, depression, and inflammatory diseases like arthritis. Conversely, longer telomeres are linked to healthy aging and overall longevity.
What is telomerase?
Telomerase is our body's own naturally produced enzyme that is commonly referred to as the 'fountain of youth'. Telomerase counteracts telomere shortening by rebuilding and replenishing the ends of the chromosomes to keep cells (and you) healthy. If telomerase enzyme levels are high, the telomere length is maintained and our cells can be replicated more completely, rather than degrading over time.
What are the key active ingredients in T5 and how do they support telomere health?
T5 contains astragalus extract (including 10% Astragaloside IV) and selenium to support the body's increase of telomerase enzyme, along with baicalin, glutathione and a New Zealand made antioxidant complex to protect against the oxidative stress that causes telomere shortening.
What distinguishes T5 from other telomere supplements on the market?
Produced from the latest research available on telomeres, T5 contains nutritional ingredients that are proven to support the two major causes of telomere shortening, 1) loss of telomerase and telomerase activity, and 2) oxidative stress. Most other products on the market will generally only target one of these areas.
Will I get any noticeable results from taking T5?
Results and benefits will of course vary from person to person. Some people experience improved energy, well-being, and even more. Others do not report "feeling" any differently, but continue to take T5 in the knowledge that its active ingredients are backed up by scientific research and they are supporting their telomere health and telomerase activity.
Can changes to my lifestyle help with my telomere length?
Yes. Research shows that positive lifestyle changes can not only maintain but also increase your telomere length. Stress management techniques such as yoga, exercise and a healthy diet have been shown to have a positive impact on telomere length and telomerase activity. We recommend combining T5 with good lifestyle choices for optimum health and longevity.
Can I take T5 if pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Due to the fact that no research has been done in this area, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding do not use T5 without professional medical advice.
Are there any known side effects to taking T5?
No, there are no known side effects and T5 is generally very well tolerated.
I am on medication - can I take T5?
T5 is not known to interact with any medication with many customers taking it safely alongside their medication. However, if you are on medication, you should always consult your doctor before starting any dietary supplement.
