WHY TAKE A MULTIVITAMIN?
With busy lifestyles and convenient dietary choices we are not always getting all vitamins and minerals our bodies need to live life to the full. Stress, smoking, alcohol and physical inactivity can also make the problem worse. On top of that, as we age our bodies may have a harder time absorbing nutrients from food.
A multivitamin acts as an insurance policy. It can be a daily guarantee that your body is getting enough vitamins and minerals to function optimally and ensure any deficiencies or gaps in your diet are covered, so you are operating at 100% right now and in the future.
ARE ALL MULTIVITAMINS EQUAL?
Not all multivitamins are created equal. When choosing a multi, it is not only important to ensure dosages are at the correct level and that it contains all the necessary nutrients, but it’s just as important to check the actual form of vitamins and minerals being used. Many manufacturers use vitamins and minerals in their most common and often cheapest form – meaning they are poorly absorbed by the body and relatively less effective.
If you want the very best from your multivitamin, choose Puraz Women's Multi, a premium formulation incorporating a broad range of essential vitamins and minerals in their most biologically active and absorbable forms at the appropriate dosage.
BOOST YOUR ENERGY PRODUCTION
Women's Multi contains a full vitamin B complex, an essential component of any quality multi. The eight B vitamins — B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7 (Biotin), B9 (folate) and B12 — play an important role in our daily health. These nutrients are crucial in converting the food you eat into cellular energy, allowing us to stay energized throughout the day. B vitamins are also important for the normal functioning of the nervous system.
ACTIVATED VITAMINS FOR HIGH BIOAVAILABILITY
A common shortcut manufacturers take is to use only unactivated B vitamins and folic acid in their formulations. These are less expensive and easier to source than activated versions, however an unactivated vitamin must first be converted or ‘activated’ by your body before your cells can utilise it. Unfortunately, some people have reduced levels or function of the enzymes that enable this activation reaction to take place. For example, due to natural variation, or decreased liver function, some people may have low activity of the enzyme pyridoxal kinase, which helps convert the common supplement Pyridoxine HCL (vitamin B6) to the bioactive form, Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate. Another well-known example is folic acid vs folate. Approximately 50% of the population carries an MTHFR gene version which results in reduced levels of the enzyme methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase. The effect of this is an inefficient conversion of the commonly used synthetic folic acid into the bioactive form methylfolate.
Women’s Multi incorporates activated forms of B6 (pyridoxal-5-phosphate) and B12 (methylcobalamin) for high bioavailability and maximum effectiveness and contains only methylfolate as a folate source, which will work for you whether you have an MTHFR mutation or not. By taking these activated vitamins, you can feel confident that you are getting the full benefit from your supplement even if your enzyme function is sub-par. You are not wasting your money taking nutrients that your body can’t use. What you need is active nutrients that provide the body with exactly what it needs in the form that is most effective, and that’s what we are giving you.
HIGHLY ABSORBABLE MINERAL COMPOUNDS
In our Women’s Multi, key minerals such as magnesium, selenium, boron and zinc are present in bioavailable, organic and chelated forms. For example, we have used magnesium citrate instead of the common inorganic oxide, sulphate or phosphate compounds and zinc as an amino acid chelate. Therefore you absorb more of the amount stated on the label for these minerals, compared to taking a less absorbable compound.
Special form of lutein for eye health
Women’s Multi uses FloraGLO® lutein, the most researched lutein in the world. Lutein is the ‘eye vitamin’ and supports the maintenance of healthy vision. This yellow carotenoid is concentrated in the macula of the eye. It absorbs blue light and protects the macula from UV light damage.
Citrus bioflavonoids for additional antioxidant support
Women’s Multi has added citrus bioflavonoids. Most multivitamins don’t contain important bioflavonoids. Sometimes referred to as 'vitamin P', bioflavonoids enhance the action of vitamin C by creating a profile close to that found in nature, and have numerous benefits for supporting vascular health, and antioxidant defence.
SCIENTIFICALLY FORMULATED FOR WOMEN
Women’s Multi has been scientifically formulated specifically for women. Although men and women mostly have the same dietary requirements, it is important a multivitamin is specifically designed for each gender as there are some subtle differences in requirements.
Women’s Multi contains all the essential nutrients important for women’s health such as calcium, vitamin D and K2, vitamin A, iodine, B vitamins, chromium and folate. Women’s Multi also contains choline which is a 'vitamin-like' essential nutrient with many functions in the body. Choline has gained attention recently due to choline deficiency being associated with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and due to awareness of the importance of choline during pregnancy. A 2013 New Zealand study showed that only 16% of adult women were consuming adequate choline1.
CONTAINS ALL OF THE FAT SOLUBLE VITAMINS A,D,E,K, INCLUDING BOTH FORMS OF VITAMIN K
Women’s Multi incorporates all of the fat soluble vitamins A,D,E and K. Our modern highly processed diets means many of us are not getting an adequate intake of fat soluble vitamins. Fat soluble vitamins are important for general good health, daily repair of cells and functioning of organs.
Women’s Multi includes both forms of Vitamin K. In most multivitamins, you will see vitamin K as a single nutrient. This almost always refers to K1 Phylloquinone. In fact, Vitamin K is not a single nutrient, but a group of fat soluble vitamins. Vitamin K2 (menaquinone) has unique benefits for supporting cardiovascular and bone health that K1 does not and is an essential ingredient in any high quality multi. In a natural diet, K1 is much more abundant, being present in leafy greens, and K2 is a bit harder to get, being most abundant in natto (fermented soybeans) and cultured cheeses.
